High Hopes Challenge 21 - Zig Zags

Hi All! Sorry my post is so late today.. You probably know it is Zoe's birthday today so the weekend has been so crazy busy and I can't believe it is already 14:20 and the first time i've got to the computer today!

Our challenge this week over at the High Hopes blog is up and Anna is asking us to use zig zags on our cards. I pulled out my Martha Stewart punch for this one but you could always get out your sewing machine.

This cute character is Party Donkey and he's holding accessory stamp single present. I have used part of the sentiment Swingin' Birthday. I just love this character and so fun that you can add different accessories to his hoof to personalise your card for the right occasion. I inked up the Happy part of the sentiment then cut it out using the SU word window punch. I also did the same again for Birthday. I then attached them to a sticky note to pop back into the word punch to cut off the excess to fit the word perfectly. The paper is from the Basic Grey Cupcake collection.

While I was colouring my donkey I popped on over to my friend Michelle's blog to look at all her gorgeous donkey's for inspiration. All though he didn't come out quite the same I picked the chocolate colours to resemble her "Freddie". Edit: ok.. just heard from Michelle and she say's my donkey is more like Jazz or Fanci Pants... lol.

Summer's Sweetness

Just a quick post today as it's Zoe's 9th birthday on Sunday. I am sure if you have kids you know that birthday's always go on for a few days at this age. The celebrations start tomorrow after school and end Monday with her party so not much time for crafting!

Anyway on to my card.. this cutie pie is High Hopes Summer's Sweetness with "One in a Melon" sentiment . Don't you just love her chubby little cheeks and toes! These papers are from DCWV Nana's Nursery Baby girl stack but I thought the colours would be just perfect. I paper pieced her dress and the rest of the image is coloured with Prisma pencils with sansodor and paper stumps to blend.

High Hopes Challenge 19 - Sponging

Our challenge this weeks over at the High Hopes blog is Sponging. This fun challenge was set by Amy. I didn't think I would get a card done for this challenge as the end of last week Gary was off for a couple of days while the girls were on half-term. It was bugging me that I had missed out as I have never missed a challenge before and was itching to join in! This is the first time I have ever sponged a background before and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Thanks Michelle for the great tips and advice!

I stamped Odie and then stamped him again on a post-it, cut around and masked him. I then stamped the three clouds on post-it's, cut around and positioned them on my paper with Odie. The clouds where from a Magnolia kit I had bought last year. I then used SU Classic pad Bashful Blue for the sky and SU Classic Garden Green for the grass. I applied the ink lightly with an SU Sponge Dauber building up the colour gradually. I really like the subtle effect and much nicer than a plain white background. Odie is coloured with Prisma colour pencils with sansodor and paper stumps to blend. I added a little extra shading around his paws.

The text was cut on my Cricut Expression using the Mickey and Friends cartridge. The papers are from the DCWV Pet Stack. I added co-ordinating fibre for a little texture.

I think most of you know by now that my eldest daughter Zoe loves to stamp but it seems that my 3 year old Danni is also getting the bug! I can't believe my little sweetie ;-) coloured my new Miss Anya's before me! She has even coloured in her very own Odie.

You remember my farm animal card I made a couple of weeks ago? Well this cute stamp and the sentiment was also in the fabulous McSplendid Farm set by The Greeting Farm. Silly Monkey Crafts have a great range of these stamps including the very cute Anya and Ian. The bright paper is by Cherry Arte and is called Bold Spots. While colouring this image I couldn't help but think of Tom and Jerry hence the colours I have chosen to colour them ;-) For more details of the products used please see below.

High Hopes Challenge 17 - Sketch by Katharina

We have a fabulous sketch for you to follow this week over at the High Hopes Challenge blog which has been designed by Katharina. I loved the layout of this sketch and it was fun to work with. The gorgeous bright papers are by Imaginisce and are called Twitterpatted. I matched up the flower on my card to match flower on the paper.


Now onto the adorable bunny stamp... This stamp is part of the February Project of the Month stamp set. Ee-eye, ee-eye oh! - ISMAKI 09/005 - Isa

They have a fabulous sketch over at Ismaki this week which has been designed by Isa. As soon as I saw this sketch I knew it was just perfect for what I had in mind. These cute characters are by The Greeting Farm "McSplendid Farm" set which is available to buy from Silly Monkey Crafts. This set is packed with stamps and sentiments and there are still two characters I haven't used. I added the text using Studio G Alphabet stamps. The fun paper is Basic Grey Lollipop Shoppe and I just love the vibrant colours - so me!. I found the curly wurly buttons in my stash and they reminded me of the piggies tail. I was a good girl ;-) and as well as following the sketch added in the optional heart!

For my card this week I have used some yummy products from my new Silly Monkey Crafts DT box. The gorgeous Tilda is one from the new '09 Valentines colletion and is called "Tilda with hearts". I thought it would a cute idea to add the goodwear mini heart buttons in her apron. Silly Monkey crafts have some fabulous new stamps in stock. As well as new Magnolia's they have Pink Cat Studio and The Greeting Farm stamps (Anya). I distressed the edges of the image using Versamagic Jumbo Java. I was then also very brave ;-) and even though there is no stitching on my card used my sewing machine to do the corner design.

Love birds!

For my card today I have used more of the yummy Cloud9 BeLoved paper for this Anniversary card. Aren't these owls just the cutest pair and as well as being perfect for valentines I thought they would be great to use for an Anniversary card for my mother and father-in-law. It's not until April but now i'm well prepared! The clouds are part of the designer paper so thought it would be great to stamp the sentiment in the centre.

I didn't want my little owl lovers to be floating around in the air so I stamped them twice. Coloured one in full and then cut it out cutting off their tail feathers. I then stamped the image again and just coloured in their claws and tail feathers. I then cut just this part out from the second image. I stuck the fibre into place behind the main image then matched it up with the claws and tail behind on the second. Ta da.. you have them sitting on a little branch.. I think it turned out kinda neat don't you?

I would like to thank a dear friend for the SU Corner ticket punch (you know who you are ;-) and know it will get lots of use!

Woo Hoo.. it's Sunday and time for a new High Hopes challenge! This week Kimmie is asking us to use Dry Embossing on our cards.
